    We’ll also head off-site for a few meals to experience the authentic flavours of Costa Rica.

  • You’ll experience up to three intentional practices a day, each 75 minutes long and designed to meet your body and mind exactly where they are.

    Led by Marlies, Veronica, and a select lineup of surprise teachers and healers, classes blend breathwork, intelligent sequencing, and meaningful guidance to take you beyond the surface of movement and into something more embodied.

    Expect:
    • Strong, breath-led flows in the morning
    • Late afternoon sessions that rotate between technique, inquiry, and deepening practice
    • Evening classes with Reiki, yoga nidra, and restorative stillness under the stars
    • Dedicated pranayama and breathwork in every practice
    • Optional beach walks, ocean swims, and meditation throughout the week

  • A guided meditation is offered each morning to help you ground, breathe, and arrive in the day.

    Some sessions are still, others include gentle movement. You may practice by the ocean, around a fire, or in quiet group settings.

    Each one is led with clarity and intention—no pressure, no performance. Just space to feel more calm, more present, and more at ease in yourself.

  • This retreat isn’t only about what happens on the mat.

    You'll have the chance to visit an Indigenous cacao farm and see how chocolate is made, tree to bar—followed by a waterfall swim that’s as refreshing as it is unforgettable.

    Other optional experiences include a private sound healing float session, guided hikes through nearby national parks, day trips to Puerto Viejo’s chic energy, and a few off-site dinings that let you taste Costa Rica beyond the retreat center.

FAQs

Do I need to be an experienced yogi to join?

Not necessarily. There’s no required skill level to attend, but you should know that several hours each day are devoted to yoga—whether through movement, meditation, breathwork, or introspection. Some familiarity with yoga will help you get the most from the experience.It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Are flights or airport transfers included?

No. Flights are not included. We’ll provide trusted travel details and guidance to support your journey to the Caribbean. Transportation to and from retreat center included in Luxe + Basic Packages.

What’s the cancellation or refund policy?

Between August 1 and October 1, a partial refund may be offered only if your spot is successfully filled by another participant (approved by Lumière by Marlies retreat administrators).
After October 2, all payments are non-refundable.

Can I come solo, or do I need to bring someone?

If you’re coming with a friend, the Bestie Package includes shared accommodations with two single beds or one king + one single.
Flying solo? The Basic Babe Package is designed for brave solo travellers—expect connection, shared space, and kind company.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Vegan, gluten-free, and protein-enriched options are all available. Just let us know your needs—and how we can provide.

Is there downtime, or is every hour scheduled?

You’re always in choice. Morning, afternoon, and evening yoga sessions are offered daily—but nothing is mandatory. A loose structure is provided to support your flow, but you’re free to participate fully or take space whenever you need it. This is your time to tune in and make it your own.

Meet Marlies — Teacher, Healer, Curator, Guide

Marlies is the heart and steady compass of this retreat. As lead facilitator, she holds the full arc of the experience — from the soft landings of day one to the deep, soul-nourishing integration of the final savasana. With nearly a decade of full-time teaching, three yoga teacher trainings led, and countless international retreats under her belt, she’s often described as a master curator of transformational group experiences.

Her students speak of her guidance as both elemental and exacting — the kind that makes you feel widely held and quietly changed.

With roots in both athletic movement and intuitive energy work, Marlies blends the science of safe sequencing with the subtle art of presence. Her classes are crafted with care, reverence, and a deep knowing of what it means to move through life in a body — and in a world that doesn’t always make that easy.

As a 500-hour yoga teacher, Reiki Master, and trauma-sensitive space holder, she brings her whole self to every practice — honest, poetic, intentional.

Meet Veronica — Lawyer, Writer, Athlete, Yogi

Veronica is a lawyer and writer turned yoga and mindfulness instructor known for crafting creative, athletic, and intentional flows rooted in body awareness, alignment, and breath. With over 20 years of competitive sports experience, her classes blend movement with sports psychology, allowing the body to warm up safely and build confidence through repetition.

Her teaching spans from slow, restorative flows that gently target overused, under-stretched muscles, to traditional Hatha focused on breath-aligned movement, to her signature Power Flows—fast-paced, music-driven sequences where athleticism meets classical yoga. Veronica brings duality into her offerings with openness, humour, and accessibility.

Following her 200-hour YTT, she deepened her studies with a Yoga for Athletes certification and 50 hours of Advanced Yoga Anatomy, inspired by her own journey with stage 4 endometriosis. Her diagnosis transformed how she moves and teaches, fueling a passion for helping women align their movement with their cycle and hormonal health.

Veronica is also a certified Mindfulness and Meditation instructor, trained in the neuroscience of meditation, Buddhist-inspired techniques, and breathwork. Her style is kind, accessible, and centered on calming the nervous system—often beginning with the same breathwork Supreme Court Justices use before hearings.

Her favourite style? Power Flow. Think classical yoga meets beach club—flowing through Sun Salutations and Warrior poses with modern cueing, energizing playlists, and the mental edge of a high-performance athlete (and maybe a DJ on the side).

When she’s not teaching or lawyering, you’ll find her writing fiction and sipping espresso in Europe.

At Lumière Retreats, Veronica leads meditations, breathwork, and her signature Power Flows. You’ll explore your body’s strength and rhythm through energizing movement, then wind down with grounding breath practices designed to support sleep and muscle recovery—all shaped by her deep anatomical knowledge and love of peak performance.
